This training is designed to help URJC students learn about and utilize specialized electronic resources to directly support their studies, assignments, and research projects. During this learning experience, participants will learn how to access subject-specific databases, e-books, and specialized journals and journal portals, and how to use them practically to locate up-to-date and reliable scientific information. The course aims to promote independent and critical use of these resources, providing simple strategies for conducting effective searches, filtering results, consulting online documents, and managing them for use in academic work (including proper citation). In this way, the library becomes a key tool for improving the quality of university work and strengthening students' information literacy skills. What you will learn
The course is designed to teach you how to independently use the main thematic electronic resources, allowing you to develop skills to locate, select and use specialized academic information through the tools available in the University Library.
The course will cover:
- Subject-specific databases: practical use of different databases to locate scientific articles, reports, conference proceedings and other specialized documents.
- Specialized databases for electronic books: access to manuals, online monographs, as well as use of their main reading and consultation functionalities.
- Specialized databases of electronic journals: access to journal portals to complement searches and keep up with current scientific developments.
- Precise search strategies with search filters adapted to the discipline and responsible use: application of effective searches, basic evaluation of the quality of sources and proper citation of documents.

- Intended for students who are interested in completing the training program designed by the University Library.
- Given the general nature of the course, no prior qualification is required, although it may be considered especially interesting for the entire university community.

This course is designed to be self-paced. There's no need to start at a specific time, although a learning pace of one topic per week is recommended.
How do I pass the course?
At the end of each module you will be assessed with a test on the basic concepts learned.

This course is part of the training itinerary for students who enroll in the training activity "Search and management of scientific information" with which 1 ECTS credit will be obtained for the subject of Academic Recognition of Credits.
