Managing LGBTI+ diversity in the workplace

MOOC RAC URJC: 1.25 ECTS

Description

What is the situation in the workplace for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, and other gender and sexual minorities? Do you want to develop skills and competencies to address sexual and gender identity diversity in the workplace? In this course, we offer strategies for managing LGBTI+ diversity to prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression, or gender identity, embrace diversity, and create inclusive and diverse spaces that attract talent and respect human rights.

This course offers an introduction to sexual and gender identity diversity in the workplace, focusing on the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other non-majority gender and sexual orientations (LGBTI+). It addresses the risk of discrimination these individuals face in the form of gender-based prejudice and analyzes the specific challenges they encounter in the workplace, such as access to employment, promotion, remuneration, dismissal, harassment, and victimization. The course also reviews proposals from international organizations and the role of unions in defending their labor rights. Furthermore, it explores how to manage sexual and gender identity diversity in organizations and companies, providing guidelines for creating a corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy that promotes visibility, equality, and the protection of the rights of LGBTI+ people, and offers examples of successful case studies. The final module focuses on the specific challenges faced by transgender people, lesbian women, and bisexual women, and proposes measures to foster inclusive and equitable workplaces.
